In his watercolors of varying colors and pastel, Legueult extends both Matisse lesson that emphasizes the decorative patterns and that of Bonnard which depicts the intimacy of scenes from everyday life. Legueult is one of the most important artists of the Group of Painters of Reality Poetics. Under this name came together eight artists: Raymond Legueult (1898-1971), Maurice Brianchon (1899-1979), Kostya Terechkovitch (1902-1978), Roland Oudot (1897-1981), André Planson (1889-1981), Roger Limouse (1894-1989), Christian Caillard (1899-1985) and Jules Cavaillès (1901-1977).
Paul Morand French Academy wrote in the article entitled Mes Amis du groupe de la réalité in the Journal de Genève and the Gazette de Lausanne in May 1994: "The eight names, cities today are a quintessence. [...] Oudot, Brianchon, Legueult, I knew them teenagers, Decorative arts, there are exactly forty years; they have not changed; they have not stopped working in moral independence, in modesty, in the respect of masters. [...] The brothers in arms of my three friends, shown here with them, like them are artists without lies, absolutely honest, an elegance that never pays in dandyism, an eye finesse that betrays the distinction of soul. [...] They have resisted the fascination of misery, as powerful today, and more dangerous than before the lure of wealth. To survive in a world like ours, it keep alert, calm and fresh on arrival, it took them more than luck, a talent of supreme integrity and great virtues. "
