Bleu Durance, a composition by Olivier Debré for the refectory of the Lycée professionnel Alpes et Durance in Embrun in the Provence Alpes Côtes d'Azur region (PACA).
Measuring some two metres by eight, Bleu Durance is not designed to go unnoticed with its long vertical flows of blue, yellow and green, evoking the most important river in Provence.
Jean Faugeron (1915-1983) was a famous French architect who designed the Pavillon Français at the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal, Canada, with a monumental painting by Olivier Debré in the lobby. Faugeron was a professor of architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and chief curator of the Palais de Chaillot until January 1983. A great friend and admirer of Olivier Debré, Faugeron often asked the painter to create large compositions for the buildings he constructed.
