Our drawing made in the early sixties is perfectly representative of the very particular iconographic universe of Wifredo Lam. The creatures that compose it, omnipresent in the artist's work, are largely inspired by Afro-Cuban divinities and recall in particular the totemic forms of certain African Yoruba sculptures. The bird on the right of the drawing is also a constant in his work.
