Salon des Tuileries, 2e édition, Paris, 1924, nr 1256 (label on the back)

The Salon des Tuileries was created June 14, 1923 following a violent rupture of a group of artists with the Salon National Fine Arts including Aman-Jean, Albert Besnard, Bourdelle, Denis Maurice, Despiau, Dufresne , Lebasque, Le Sidaner, Henri Martin ... The first year, the Salon des Tuileries settled in the barracks at the Porte Maillot in Paris, designed in haste by the Perret brothers as an exhibition space. Its location varied thereafter. The aim of the show was to confront all the new schools without losing their autonomy, the works were grouped by affinities and selected. In 1924, the Salon des Tuileries took advantage of the massive resignation of foreign artists from the Salon des Indépendants such Chagall, Maria Blanchard, Foujita, Natalia Goncharova, Kisling, Liptchitz ... This Salon presented contempory works, as shown in the decoration of the hall of sculptures of the Salon of 1938 held at the Pavilion of Arts Avenue Rapp realized by  Sonia and Robert Delaunay, Gleizes, Lhote and Villon. The last Salon des Tuileries took place in 1961-1962.
